Adam Ondra: “I’m Not the Strongest Climber in the World,” See Who He Thinks Is

Magnus Midtbo recently topped one million YouTube subscribers and celebrated with four Adam Ondra videos

Adam Ondra and Magnus Midtbo recently collaborated for a number of YouTube videos to celebrate Midtbo’s one million subscribers. The videos are a behind-the-scenes look at Ondra’s intense training and climbing routines.

The latest in the series is a 50-minute video, which includes Ondra making the first ascent of Carmina Burana 5.14d (the hardest send on Midtbo’s channel), and talking about free-soloing old Czech routes, the future of climbing and 5.16.

Ondra also says that he’s not the strongest climber in the world, and lists a number of other crushers who he thinks deserve the title. He said that he grew up loving snowboarding and that he’s doesn’t think he’ll ever get into cold alpine climbing.

He mentions that he’s going to spend the next five months in Arco looking for a hard project, and that if it wasn’t for the Olympics, he would’ve quit comp climbing two years ago. He said modern bouldering competition problems hurt his body. Ondra also thinks that climbing sub-seven seconds on a speed wall is like climbing 5.13b on rock.
