New 5.12 and V3 at Smoke Bluffs – Watch the First Ascents

A new trail from the parking lot to the lower crags is bringing new life to the rock closest to Bland Channel

Jason Green recently equipped and sent a new 5.12b at The Zip crag in Squamish’s Smoke Bluffs Park. He named the technical route Symptom of Morphology. The route follows a vertical face between two classics: Gaia 5.12b sport and The Zip 5.10a trad.

“New routing can be controversial at times especially putting a new route between two classics,” said Green, “but I thought long and hard about it and very pleased how the route turned out, and without jeopardizing the adjacent routes.”
