Tennessee Bouldering with Paul Robinson

The Chattanooga area features some of the best sandstone climbing in the United States

Earlier this month, Paul Robinson took a three-day trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee to try some of the area’s finest sandstone boulder problems. On February 6, his first day of the trip, he sent Deception V7 and Rust V13 in Stone Fort. The following day he topped Western Gold V11 and Brass Knuckles V14 in Dayton Pocket. On the third and final day of his short visit, he climbed Groundhog Day Low V10 and made the third ascent of Blue Mist V12/13.

“Finally feeling like I’m climbing well and just wanna keep training and feeling stronger,” said Robinson on Instagram after the trip. “Psyched to see what the next few months have in store.” Robinson just released a video of some of his Tennessee highlights, which you can watch below.

Over his storied climbing career, Robinson has redpointed nearly two dozen V15’s and flashed up to V13. In 2020, he reached his astounding personal goal of climbing 1,000 problems graded V11 or harder. He climbed his first V11 when he was only 15 years old—the popular problem The Egg in Squamish.
