That Unconventional Alex Megos Interview
Watch as one of the world's top climbers is interviewed at the Petzl RocTrip in May 2022
Last May, after eight years of absence, the Petzl RocTrip made a comeback in the town of Manikia, Greece. As has always been tradition, the goal was to bring the climbing community together around a single event.
A new idea was proposed for the comeback event, one that saw pro climbers hanging from a suspended table and chairs as they talked about climbing. Watch as Neil Gresham interviews Alex Megos in the hanging system. There were several interviews over the week, including one with Nico Fravresse and Sean Villanueva O’Driscoll.
The Petzl RocTrip helped to put Manikia on the map for travelling climbers. In May, a team from Petzl returned to Manikia to see if the event had an impact on the small town. In a brief report from their visit, they determined that the RocTrip had a hugely positive impact on the area.
“The May 2022 Petzl RocTrip was a unique experience for the entire area surrounding Manikia,” a press release from Petzl reads. “People came from all over the world to attend the event and visit the region; and after the event, many others began to hear about it. It was a big boost for the local community on multiple levels. Before the Petzl RocTrip, very few people knew of or visited the region for rock climbing. The Petzl RocTrip really put Manikia on the map and made it a renowned rock climbing destination.” Read the full story here.
