The Cathedral Traverse Summits the Grand Teton
If you're looking for a fun 5.8 alpine traverse, add the Cathedral to your list for next summer

There are several summit link-ups that you can do in Wyoming’s Teton Range, but the Cathedral Traverse is one of the best and most popular.
It summits Teewinot Mountain, Mount Owen and the Grand Teton, three mountains known as the Cathedral Group because of their majestic appearance from the northeast. The entire climb involves hard, roped climbing, intricate down-climbing, rappelling, and complex route finding. It’s the first section of the Grand Traverse, which adds Middle Teton, South Teton, Ice Cream Cone, Gilkey Tower, Spalding, Cloudveil Dome and Nez Perce for a total of 10 summits.
In the below video, Danny Bryson and Blake Josephson rope-up for a go at the Cathedral Traverse. “The cathedral traverse is no joke,” they say. “It took us five years to get around to finishing the first half of the Grand Traverse and I can honestly say I was glad we put it off.”
