The Wide Boyz Quiz Climbing Pros on Crack Technique
Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall test Red Bull Dual Ascent competitors on their offwidth climbing knowledge
At the Red Bull Dual Ascent multi-pitch competition in October 2022, the Wide Boyz—British crack masters Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall—tested some of the world’s best climbers on their crack climbing knowledge. The duo tested climbers specifically on two offwidth techniques: the armbar and the wide pony. Hilarity ensues.
Dual Ascent competitors Stefano Ghisolfi, Alberto Ginés López, Luka Potočar, Domen Škofic, and Jernej Kruder took part in the cheeky challenge, as did Magnus Midtbø. A video of the fun challenge was released today by the Wide Boyz.
The Red Bull Dual Ascent multi-pitch climbing competition was held on the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland. Eight pairs of pro climbers raced against each other up a six-pitch 180-metre route constructed using indoor climbing holds. López and Potočar took gold, Kruder and Škofic silver, and Ghisolfi and Marcello Bombardi bronze.
